mODeRnA!
I like contemporary art! I always try to visit contemporary art museums in cities I travel. It is very pleasant trying to interpret the works of art that seem insignificant at first sight and to put yourself in place of the artist! It’s like a workout that improve my point of view.
We could not pass the modern art museum in Stockholm. Of course we visited. Let’s see what we saw at the Moderna Museet on Skeppsholmen Island.
THE FOUR ELEMENTS!
The Four Elements welcomes us outside of Stockholm Moderna Museet. The artist of this sculpture, Alexander Calder.

MAMAN!

Another huge spider sculpture welcomes us at the entrance to the museum. Its name is Maman, meaning mother. It’s not an ordinary spider. Its artist Louise Bourgeois is a French-American, made this sculpture as the icon of his infinite love to her mother. So why is it a spider? The artist explains as:
“The Spider is an ode to my mother. She was my best friend. Like a spider, my mother was a weaver. My family was in the business of tapestry restoration, and my mother was in charge of the workshop. Like spiders, my mother was very clever. Spiders are friendly presences that eat mosquitoes. We know that mosquitoes spread diseases and are therefore unwanted. So, spiders are helpful and protective, just like my mother.”
-Louise Bourgeouis
Absolutely interesting..
Bourgeouis loved his mother so much that she wanted to commit suicide shortly after she had lost her. Saved by the grandfather. And then that’s what made this sculpture.
Maman has been exhibited in many more countries before Stockholm Modern Art since January 2015.
We’re going in.
THE GOAT or MONOGRAM (Its official name)
This goat that called Monogram is World famous goat of the museum. Its one of the Moderna Museet’s best-loved pieces.

Its artist is Robert Rauschenberg. We saw Monogram. Unfortunately, it will not be in the Moderna Museet until 2018. For a while it will be hosted in MoMA in New York, SFMoMa in San Francisco and Tate Modern in London.
The Enigma of Wilhelm Tell by Salvador DALI
Here is one of the Dali’s most extraordinary work !

In this work, Dali tried to describe a reflection of Freud’s own subconscious based on subconscious theory. On the other hand, William Tell is a political figure and his hat in this picture is the same as Lenin’s. Lenin figure in this picture disturbed other Surrealists who were Marxist beliefs were taken into consideration, and they even worked to destroy the artifact while being exhibited in Paris. Fortunately, the picture is saved. The protruding hip in the picture symbolizes the October 1917 Revolution. Lenin identified with William Tell, who represents the repressive father figure that was raised at the time, according to Dali, and thus found in the picture.
Stockholm Modern Art also has a photography department. And it worths visit.
